LMO Looks average, Should I even try to extend my PGWP?

I have a PGWP and am going to apply under the CEC after I get my 12 months experience. However, my PGWP expires in 13 months.

To stay and wait for my CEC app to clear obviously I would need a LMO. I checked and it looks like Canada will have enough employees to fill the position, and furthermore I am sure that there will be other qualified applicants, though I might be the most qualified applicant.

Should I even bother to tell my employer that I will be able to work for longer than my PGWP is valid for? What is the likelyhood of a work permit extension being extended if there are enough canadians to fill the position?

Thanks for the responses!!

It might be a better idea for me to ask for a temporary position that expires when my PGWP does, and then return home to wait for the CEC to process?

If you are under the PGWP program, then your employer doesn't need to show effort in hiring canadians.

So as long as your current or future employer agrees to hire you and promises to offer you a permanent position after LMO is accepted, you are ok.

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/lmodir/variation.shtml

Category: International graduates holding a work permit under the Post Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Description: The employer wants to hire a foreign worker whose Labour Market Opinion exempt work permit, issued under the PGWPP, will soon expire.

Variation: The employer is making a permanent job offer in a skilled position (i.e. within NOC 0, A and B codes only) to international graduates who have completed the PGWPP. The employer is not required to demonstrate recruitment efforts.

phatalo is right. I think sometimes LMOs are rejected because the application is not properly filled out or the employer has not shown adquate evidence of recruitment efforts. Examples of recruitment efforts could include providing the number of times the job was re-posted, how many people applied(within the region/province & nationally), a checklist of what you(employer) was looking for vs what the applicants had/did not have, etc. It also helps if the employer is not involved in a labor dispute or laying off workers.

phathalo's point is that in the case of someone originally hired under PNP, the employer does NOT need to do any of that.

But on the LMO application form, where it asks about recruitment efforts, they do need to indicate that the employee was originally hired under the PGWPP and check "yes" on the box "intent to permanent"
