may i ask your NOC code? Ours got rejected today :( reason: there is no indication of a labor shortage. We applied under NOC code A as an optometrist. Very sad day after so many weeks waiting...anyone have any insight on possible appeals processes?

Our LMO was received by Serice Canada on July 13, 2011 and we received it September 9, 2011. 8.5 weeks!

I am a bit confused, though. . . we are from the US.

My husband and I have both been hired by a company in Alberta to be Group Home Operators (Teaching Parents). NOC 4212-B. We have been told by some that we can go to the border and apply for our TWP there; others have told us that we have to apply at the visa office in Washington, DC.

We have considered driving from here to Port Erie to apply for the TWP and then return to our current home to pack our animals and belongings. (Port Erie is much closer to our home than Alberta! So we figured we could get the TWP and then make the long trek to Alberta).

How can we know if we need a medical exam? If we get to the border and they decide we need a medical, what happens? Do they hold the file and allow us to return with a completed medical when we need to enter Alberta? Or do we have to come home, apply at the visa office, and wait for our section A?

We are simply trying to speed up this process. Our job was ready for us 2 weeks ago, so we want to get there as soon as possible!

We will also need to hire a lawyer once we get our TWPs and settle in Canada because we'd like to apply for Permanent Residency. How long do we have to be on a TWP to apply? We don't want to have to go through the LMO renewal process!
My wife and I have a very similar situation. We are in the US and she has a job offer as a speech pathologist in Toronto (NOC 3141-A). Did you determine what you had to do about your medical exam? Do you know if you can go to the port and get the work permit before you move or when you move? Replies from anyone are greatly appreciated!

Service Canada received LMO app, ovation on 18th July still havent heard anything. Employer called last week we should hear this week. Hope it's positive as its been a long 12 weeks. Another LMO application was rejected after 9 weeks of waiting so it proves it can be rejected no matter how long you are waiting... ???

Hi! I guess your employer has this so called valid "Unnamed LMO" -- meaning the LMO is readily available but without the details of the Temporary Foreign Worker. As he intended to hire you, he submitted your information to Service Canada and the processing of the naming on LMO is just within five (business) days.

Or your occupation could be on the top list of those under labor shortage.

Whichever, refer to CIC website and go apply for work permit, you are very lucky.... congrats.

To others who are still waiting, keep your faith, it'll surely come... God bless...

And just for info that might be of help. Before, my hubby got his LMO for Alberta in 3 weeks time (applied on May 24 and released on June 12). But fortunately, he got a much good offer in other province..

Keep on praying.. one of these days, it's there... :D
