hi there!
i just wanna ask regarding my complicated situation. i have a tourist visa and i am here now in Canada for almost 4 mos now. my sister will sponsor me as a live in caregiver for her kids. i already have my LMIA and my brother processed and submitted my work permit just this month. but the problem is that im almost 5 mos pregnant now. will there be a problem for me or my brother(my employer) if we proceed to the processing of work permit knowing that im pregnant? what should i do if there will be a medical for me, will it affect my status or the processed working permit? is it better for me to go home so that there will be no problem for my status? how many months does a work permit usually processed? i need your advise please!

Canada does not cover the expenses on pregnancy - the only compensation / advantage is baby will be a canadian citizen

my recommendation is to wait till the baby is born and then continue or apply for live in care giver sponsorship

good luck

Pregnancy and delivery medical cost are not covered for tourists, but could be covered for Work Permit holsters depending on the province rules, you should check your Provincial health system about it.

If you don't have tourist private insurance covering pregnancy and delivery medical expenses it will be payed by yourself and will be really expensive.

If you Work Permit request a Medical Examination could be not completed because you're pregnant (chest x-ray is mandatory, some people say it's not too risky for a pregnancy longer than 3-4 months but it's up to you)

Your WP process could be processed without MR, but I don't know under what conditions could be requested.

If you get your WP soon and you province provide health insurance for your delivery will be good to have a Canadian born baby.

If you can afford medical costs should be good as well.

If you decide to come back to your country, you should confirm until when it's safe for you and your baby to flight.

I hope you're seeing some doctor here, there are some checks you should do for your baby's health and yourself

Did you submit your application outside Canada? As initial work permit you can include medical upfront since you're on visitors visa. You do not qualified to apply initial wp inside Canada.

Hello,
Just wondering if your sister (your employer ) had any problem/issues when she applied for the LMIA given that she was employing her direct relation to come to Canada. I'm exactly in the same situation, looking to sponsor my sister in law as our living in care giver.
Thanks Jay

Based on my employers experience, applying for a live in caregiver work permit on a tourist visa... Negative. You need to apply in your home country or abroad as long as its not in Canada. My employers mom and sister in law was denied and the reason for denial is because of their status whih is a visitor.

Now if for some miracle your papers were handled by nice immigration agent, and you were approved, congratulations! Now, you are going to give birth in 4 months time now, if you receive ypur work permit now and youll have 3 months MSP contributions before the month you gave birth, you will be covered. But if not, you have to pay your hospital bill.

I hope ypull have a positive results. Every case is different. I was almost 5 months pregnant when I came here in Canada and luckily I was covered.
