Hello, I was looking for some help in renewing my work permit and daughters study permit. I came through the LMIA stream and understand that since my OINP application still hasn't been approved, my employer needs to renew their LMIA for me to renew my permits.
I'm having a hard time finding information on what the renewal process for LMIA is like given we've already done the whole application process before regarding my position.
If anyone has guidance on this please let me know. We are trying to renew the LMIA and our permits without any legal help so any advice would be helpful. This application is really important to us as we have already built a life here and my daughter infact is trying to go to university this fall. Any help would be appreciated.

Renewing an LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) involves a process similar to the initial application. Here are some ways you can renew an LMIA:

  1. Consult with Your Employer: Your employer will need to initiate the LMIA renewal process as they are the ones offering you employment. Discuss the renewal process with them and ensure they are willing to support the renewal application.
  2. Review LMIA Expiry Date: Make sure you know when your current LMIA expires.
  3. Confirm Job Position Requirements: Ensure that the job position being renewed still meets the requirements for an LMIA.
  4. Submit Application to Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)/Service Canada: Your employer will need to prepare and submit the LMIA renewal application to ESDC/Service Canada.
  5. Wait for Decision: ESDC/Service Canada will review the application and make a decision.
  6. Receive Approval and Renew Work Permit: Once the LMIA renewal is approved, you can use that to renew your work permit.

However, if you your file under OINP is approved you can apply for bridging open work permit.
