It's one thing to get your employer to agree to apply for LMIA. It's quite another thing to actually get LMIA approved by the government.sidon17 said:Hello ,
My company is willing to proceed with LMIA .
DO i have to wait for 6-8 months to get the LMIA and then to get the 600 point.
any idea whats the processing time here in Alberta.
Thanks
I have done the same thing, you need to be approved and get positive LMIA first. Applying for it does not mean you will get it. So to anser your question - yes - you have to wait to get positive LMIA before you can add it to your application. When completing your EE applicatin you will be asked to provide issue and expiry date of LMIA and its number.sidon17 said:Hello ,

Exactly! I just spoke with my HR Manager and they said there is no way we can get LMIA for your position. She said if I just walk in to any university, I can find out 100s of candidates who can be eligible for your job. She said we have spoke to our immigration lawyer and they suggested that the scores will eventually drop by may/june because there aren't that many people with LMIAs. She suggested that try to improve your score by attempting IELTS and getting your ECAs done. The lawyer also advised to not to panic as there are thousands of candidates in the same situation in mine.marcus66502 said:It's one thing to get your employer to agree to apply for LMIA. Your employer will have to advertise a lot for YOUR position and as soon as there's even one Canadian applicant for it, your chances of getting LMIA approved take a big hit toward zero. ESDC regularly denies LMIA applications by telling employers to hire the Canadian applicant and train him/her on the job.
Just because your employer agreed to file some paperwork for LMIA doesn't mean you're gonna get LMIA.
And another point, I see a few people in here proudly announcing that they've successfully convinced their employer to go for LMIA when in reality all they've got is a word of mouth by their employer to look into it. Whoever you spoke to may have agreed to go for LMIA but there's a good chance s/he has no idea what's involved in the LMIA process. Employers are going to be in for a shock when they find out they may have agreed to something they didn't really understand thoroughly, and they may very well go back on their word.
I wouldn't get too excited if I were you.

You'll need your positive LMIA and it's number to get the points. Why is your LMIA going to take 6-8 months? Mine took about 3 weeks from start to finish and the previous 2 I had done took about the same time.sidon17 said:Hello ,

I know its not going to be a easy run.but i m trying to find out how long its gonna take to get LMIA or to get those 600 points.if its more than 8 months i can move Nova scotia i graduated from there ..May be easier to apply PNP from there.
I have a NOC B skill for graphic design/art/film, don't know the number off-hand, it's something like 5412. I'm in BC. The first 2 times, I accepted a job offer and then about 3 weeks later I had the positive LMO in my hands. The last time was for the LMIA. I was already working when I asked for them to get me the LMIA for EE and I got it back in about 3 weeks.sidon17 said:Hello AshesNdust
