hi!

I’m an American born citizen. I expect to receive a job offer going to Canada on a work permit this Spring 2022. The job will start in September and I will be considered a an exempt LMIA limited market impact assessment status. How would I take my fiancé I-129F with me to Canada when he arrives to the U.S.? do we need to at least marry first? What u.s. status or visit status does he need to legally enter Canada with me if he is in the U.S. at the time I am traveling?

if I know I may want to work in Canada next year should we cancel I-129F (Fiance Visa for U.S.) before he comes or wait till he’s here??

I can't comment on the I-129F.

In order for your fiance to be able to move with you to Canada, you must either be married or common law. Common law means you have lived together continuously for at least one full year. Assuming you meet one of these requirements and your job in Canada is also a NOC A, B or 0 role (skilled occupation), your fiance will qualify for a Spousal Open Work Permit.
