LMIA confusion and advice!

Hi All,

I'm currently in the Skilled worker pool with a score of 422 (since June 15th). I've had a number of interviews with potential employers however the uncertainty of possible start date is causing issues.

My understanding is that whilst I'm waiting to be accepted entry based on my score of 422 (which I think isn't going to happen quickly?) an employer can offer me a job if it's supported by a LMIA.

I've read that there are two types. Single and dual intent. The dual costing $1000 and includes temporary work permit. My question is what is the length of the temporary work permit, and how quickly is it issued?

I really don't mind paying the $1000 if I can start to earn money.

Also if I have a job offer with a valid LMIA do I still need the $12000 savings?

Any additional insight or advice would be great.

Thanks, very much for your help!

The LMIA is something that the employer must apply for and pay for - you cannot pay.

With the market the way it is, depending on your job and experience it might be tough to get an employer willing to support an LMIA for you, particularly if you aren't already working for them.

The process involves advertising the role for a month and then proving that no suitable Canadians are available.

Processing time varies from under 10 days for priority roles and over three plus months for others.

Thanks Ozlis!

Has anyone else been through a similar process where a job is likely required for entry due to points score and then successfully obtained valid a LMIA. would be great to hear what explanation others have given to potential employers.

Seems such a difficult process!.
