LMIA-based work permit renewal, possible?

Hello experts,
I am asking for a close friend of mine who is currently working for a company in BC, Canada. The company sponsor him LMIA. His work permit will expire in June 2021.
He is now seeking to renew the work permit. The company has offered him the same job but have not talked about the LMIA with him just yet.
He is worry that if company must apply the same LMIA again or not?

Yes, the company needs to obtain a new LMIA in order for him to extend his work permit.

So basically, the company must go through the entire process to apply for LMIA (start from the scratch), pretty much the same as they did with the 1st LMIA for my friend, right?
Does the application get easier, taking into account that he already been working for this company?

Yes, they must go through the entire process from scratch.

What will make it easier is that the company has been through the LMIA process before and is familiar with the steps they need to take. However they still need to go through all of the steps to advertise the job and prove no Canadian could be hired in the current employment environment.
