Hello Guys,

I have high wage LMIA in process (Tier 2) since 26 Sept 2024. As per IRCC processing time I should get results by 16th November 2024.
I am currently on Work permit Implied status since 30 Sept 2024 and status is expiring on 26 March 2025 or Rejection (Whatever comes first)

Assuming that I get LMIA approved before getting work permit rejection. If I Add 50 points of LMIA My score will be 543 CEC candidate.
1. If I get ITA after November and AOR, DO I need to apply for closed work permit or I can apply for BWOP Since I will be on maintained status.
2. Is it required for me to obtain closed work permit after getting LMIA approved.
3. If I apply BOWP will that create any issue with my PR file, since BOWP means open work permit?

Thanks in advance!

Posted processing times are just estimates and often wrong so I would not be counting on 2 month processing. You are also counting on there being a CEC draw. Also assuming you won’t get fake extension request denial for a long time. Have you applied for a CWP with LMIA?

Haven't applied for CWP yet since LMIA is still in process.

I read in this forum that in order to get 50 CRS points for LMIA, you gotta answer YES to the question, if you have a valid work permit with your current employer's name on it. I guess this answers your questions.

With my pgwp expiring soon, I'm trying to go for wp extension (explaining how my LMIA high wage is under process) just to buy time, and then once LMIA is approved, I was thinking of converting the application to Closed WP through a webform. Is that a viable option?

Yes once you have LMIA, you can apply for CWP.

Thanks for your response guys.. I also wanna apply SOWP and visitor visa for dependants. Would it be okay to apply for them along with WP extension application itself, since I'm planning to ask them to convert it to CWP?

There is no converting. You will have to apply for a CWP. If you have LMIA and are applying for a CWP you can also apply for your dependents at the same time. They may need to change to visitor records while you wait to see if you get a CWP. If your children are above 4 they should be applying for study permits.
