hi!

I’m an American born citizen. I expect to receive a job offer going to Canada on a work permit this spring. The job will start in September and I will be considered a an exempt LMIA limited market impact assessment status. How would I take my fiancé I-129F with me to Canada when he arrives to the U.S.? do we need to at least marry first? Also will my children be able to come with me immediately when I travel and will we qualify for childcare and/or daycare benefit as an LMIA worker?

Thank you!

if I know I may want to work in Canada next year should we cancel I-129F (Fiance Visa for U.S.) before he comes or wait till he’s here??

You need to common law or married. What are daycare/childcare benefits for LMIA workers? What province are you moving to?

Im interested in British Columbia and asking if LMIA exempt (also temporary workers) receive benefits for their children for daycare or CCB like regular permanent residents? This is a factor in our move. Not specific benefits for LMIA workers.

If my Canada work permit gets approved before we get a chance to marry can I add him afterwards?

I don't think that you can get CCB right after you start working in Canada.

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/child-family-benefits/canada-child-benefit-overview/canada-child-benefit-before-you-apply.html
Who can get the Canada child benefit
You must meet all of the following conditions:

  • You live with a child who is under 18 years of age
  • You are primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child
    See who is primarily responsible
  • You are a resident of Canada for tax purposes
  • You or your spouse or common-law partner must be any of the following:
    • a Canadian citizen
    • a permanent resident
    • a protected person
    • a temporary resident who has lived in Canada for the previous 18 months, and who has a valid permit in the 19th month
    • an Indigenous person who meets the definition of "Indian" under the Indian Act

For child care expenses, I think that's not a benefit. I think it's a tax deduction while you file your tax return.
https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/individuals/topics/about-your-tax-return/tax-return/completing-a-tax-return/deductions-credits-expenses/line-21400-child-care-expenses.html

Don't think a temporary worker can apply for BC Affordable Child Care Benefit but you can read up the details:
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/family-social-supports/caring-for-young-children/child-care-funding/child-care-benefit/qualify

As for applying a SOWP for your spouse after you get married, it's not guaranteed that it will be approved. But you sure can apply after you got married.

Last question, is one eligible for both the CCB and BC Child Care Benefits if they have the correct residency status or only one?

For CCB, you have to live in Canada for 18 months first before you'll qualify. Once you've lived in Canada for 18 months on the work permit, you'll qualify.

I'm not familiar with the details of the BC program.

If you go on the BC Affordable Child Care Benefit link and click "Do you qualify", you will see the following:
Residency and citizenship status
A parent or guardian must be:
  • A resident of B.C. (you must have a current B.C. address)
  • A Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, a Convention refugee or a person in need of protection
