Hi,
My boyfriend currently has a student visa. He would like to stay here with me in Canada (I am a Canadian citizen). His classes have been done for months now, and he is coming up on the end of his student visa. We have been living together in the same place since at least September 2010 so we could be called common law. I am trying to find out the best way to have him be able to be here with me and work. Even if he has to go back home first then come back.
I have considered family class sponsor, I currently have a full time job however I make just enough to make ends meet, and I require his income to help pay for rent and food. So I don't have a lot of surplus and I am not sure how much they expect you to have to sponsor your common law/husband. Is Family class sponsor the best way? Or is there a better way to allow him to stay? Does it make it easier in some cases if he goes back home to do the process?
If someone could give me some insight that would be great.
Thank you,
Meg
