Hi Folks,
I am a citizen of India and have been living in USA for last 7 years on H1B visa. I recently received my Provincial Nomination Approval for Alberta under Strategic recruitment Stream and now am preparing my documents for the Federal. I have 2 questions:

1. Is it true that once you receive a nomination from a province, the federal application process is expedited. If it's true, how long does it take....few months or years.

2. Since I have been living in USA, do I still need to take Language Proficiency Test (IELTS) or can I get a waiver.

I would really appreciate a response.

Current processing time for PNP nominations is 11 months from the time you receive your AOR. This is for CPP -Ottawa, you can check other VO's through below link:

You do not get a waiver because of of your residing place but do get one based on your Class under PNP. I believe AINP only requires IELTS for semi skilled worker, check their site and CIC checklist for PNP.
