Hi all

I just got into the pool with 484 points, and am hoping to get invited in the next few months.

HOWEVER...I stayed in China from 2008 to 2013 and would therefore need the Police Certificate.

BUT when I got my new passport two years ago, the Danish authorities took my old one, so I no longer have my student nor work visa to prove that I lived in China.

MY QUESTION
Has anyone been in a similar situation, where they were unable to get the Police Certificate and therefore had to find a way to explain this to IRCC?

MY PLANS A,B,C...

A - Request the Chinese Embassy in Denmark to give me a proof that I have requested the certificate through them

B - Travel to Beijing on holiday and go to the police and ask them to give me an official document stating that I cannot get a police certificate

C - Hire the services of a lawfirm (like this one: https://lawandborder.com/china-police-certificates/ ) so that they can acquire the official documents stating that they are unable to get me the certificate

Any and all advice is very welcome!

Good luck to us all.

Hi

From experience, I believe the hardest thing to obtain from "any" Chinese authority/official is proof that something cannot be done.

Saying that hypothetically I think your best option is to find an agent who can get the certificate for you with some extra costs, however, I believe it's not possible because you do not have the prerequisites to apply the certificate.

Realistically, I suggest the following steps:

Step A: contact notarial services in Beijing, you should find an official reference like the following :
https://shanghai.china.embassy.gov.au/shai/ShanghaiAlternateNotarialProviders.html
:: Explain the situation, and see if they can help. (through email)
:: Again, from experience, they won't do it. (Tried Shanghai)

* Keep the records for later, to prove you tried your best.

Step B: prove that the Danish authorities took your old passport and indicate the reason. (official letter or print out from official Danish authority explaining why there is such a practice in Denmark)

Step C: contact IRCC to explain the situation in writing asap.

Good Luck.

Shayan thanks so much for taking the time to write such an explicit reply, I really apprecite it. My wife is Chinese so she is talking with the embassy here in Denmark today to see if they are willing to give us anything on an official piece of paper, but most likely I will have to follow the steps you have provided above, thanks again, I will make sure to post back here once I have an update!

Best
