Dear Colleagues,

I am 2007 applicant and just received the visa from London. I and my family (Spouse & 2 kids) planning to land in June and live with my brother in Law at his own house. My question is that; if I will stay @ my relative's house for some time, say 1 year or more, will this has any implication or effect (+ve or -ve) on my citizenship status and proof of residency? Please advise.

Regards,

No - it won't. It doesn't matter who you live with.

It doesn't matter who you live with but if it turns out later that you need to prove your days of residency for PR renewal or citizenship application, you might not have a lease or utilities in your name to show. However, keep a shoebox of evidence of your coming to Canada, for example the boarding cards for your flights and keep a paper trail of all your trips in case you need to prove something later. The best proof of having been in Canada is of course having worked and having pay slips to show.

They don't care where you live on street or at someone house (as per as you have good conduct to show and any proof to show your residency in the country after 3 years then your fine) !
