Hi I'm an expat Brit in Canada and I've been approached by an old UK client to do a couple of freelance jobs.

I have a full time job in Canada and the freelance jobs would just be something I'd do in my own time. They're website jobs and my physical location will be in Canada for a UK client.

It would be preferable if the client pay the money into my UK bank account.

So, how/where do I declare the the Tax. In the UK (where the job is) or in Canada (where I am)?

You declare worldwide income in your Canadian tax return.

If you are also taxed on this income in Britain, with which Canada has a tax treaty, then you get a deduction in your Canadian tax return for the tax paid to Britain. I think you have to attach to your Canadian tax return a tax assessment from Britain.

If you can't get the assessment from Britain in time, attach a note to your Canadian return, and send in the assessment later.
