My student has been living in Hamilton, ON since she came to Canada. She received a letter to write citizenship test in Niagara Falls, not Hamilton. Does anyone know the reason why the test location is different?

Thank you.

No idea, but I would advise to go and do the test as per the letter. Get it done.
Niagara is just like an hour or so away, no?

Yes, it is. It is not far, but it is unusual to have a residence in one city and write the test in another. Thank you for your response.

It has become fairly common in the GTA. Many applications there are processed in Scarborough but have the oath ceremony in Mississauga. This is likely because Scarborough is overburdened and Mississauga is helping with some of the load.

That's hilarious.

I have the same situation here!
I live in Ottawa ON but I received a letter to write citizenship test in Hamilton!
The flight may take approx. 16 hrs!
Is it reasonable or there could be a mistake?

Thank you.

What was your address on citizenship app? And what address is it showing on ur ecas?

I guess somehow they used ur address or ur attorney address from PR days. You should contact them immediately to get it fixed. Send them an email and also call them. I would not suggest flying to hamilton bcz its far for u and its not ur mistake as well

Thanks for your prompt reply.
The current address is correct in the ecas as well as the citizenship app.
I will contact them immediately.
Thanks again.

I don’t know if you can drive but that’s a 5-6h drive. Or the Via, or fly into Toronto and take the Go train (YOW YYZ, U

I mean if you are happy to just get it done vs changing the date that is.

Thanks for the advice.
But I have two kids and my husband lives in Calgary, so it will be hard to drive with the kids that long trip and I will not be able to leave my kids Ottawa for two days with a friend!
Do you think that the test date will be delayed too much if I tried to arrange for a test in Ottawa?

Best Regards
