Someone I know who is currently a live in caregiver wants to go back to the Philippines for a vacation. Her employer is allowing her and is willing to provide letter to state her continues employment upon returning. Both her visa (multiple entry) and WP are valid till May 2016. However her work permit states that it is not valid for re entry, what does it mean? She's planning to have vacation on August 2015 for a month or so, any problem of re entering if she goes out of canada?

Thanks for any information.

None. She has a valid visa (multiple entry) and a valid WP.

The visa is the entry/travel document - and is used to travel into/enter Canada. As long as it is valid, she can enter/re-enter Canada.

The WP is the status document - and is not a an entry/travel document. This is why this is marked as not valid for re-entry. You cannot use a WP alone to travel/enter Canada. But it shows her status - that of an authorized worker.

Oftentimes the WP is asked to be presented also at immigration for a returning worker.

Think of it this way - the visa allows her to re-enter Canada, and the WP shows proof/reason why she is entering Canada. :)
