So my mom and I are arguing. She keeps on insisting that she could file for PR Application and Extension of work permit and send it together (like in the same envelope). I keep on telling her that she should send her PR and extension of work permit separately since the extension will take lesser time. Her work permit will expire July next year. So who is right? Are we both wrong?

Ask your mom to send a PR and OWP app at the same time. First stage processing has dragged on so to be on the safe side apply for the extension of the WP when she has not received the OWP before her current WP expires. Is she ready to apply for the PR with a year to go with her current WP?

Hi. She is going to send her PR application and OWP tomorrow if everything goes well. So you mean send it at the same time but not on the same envelope right??? Like send each application to the assigned address?

No experience here, but I am thinking at the same time, different sets of checklist and attachments/fees so that after CPC-V processed the first stage (your Mom being qualified under the LCP), then the OWP can be processed. If you sent them to different addresses and the processing of the WP (open or otherwise being faster than the initial processing of the PR), it might get turned down. But this is just my take on it. There is a thread under "temporary entry topics -foreign workers" and you can try posting there so that people in the know will be able to answer you based on their experiences.

HI! As per CIC, both PR and OWP applications should be sumbitted at the same time. You can put them separately in 2 envelopes then put them in one envelope. They both go to alberta in 1 address only. Then you can apply for the extension of her work permit under her current employer. That's what I did.

Thank you for your response. Do you know if I should sign my own name under Schedule A on the last part or should it all be signed by my mother? I'm not the principal applicant, I'm a dependent. I live in the Philippines and my mom can just mail the application for me to sign.
