Hi guys, It's amazing how all of us are "begging" to be heard.
I do not want to sound negative but in my opinion asking for the PR right aways is a bit too much. they don't even care for our OWP. It would be great if we can apply for OWP one or two months before completing our program, then we and our employer can decide whether to keep working for them or change employer after completing our program. The kids that I used to look after are old enough now and their mom had a part time job so they don't need me anymore, so I dind't have any other option but thank them and move on. Now I am also jobless praying for my OWP at least.
I am single, but I can not imagine how hard should be to take care of their families back home if we do not make any money here.

I post a message with MY OWM FB account at CIC FB, (remember they deleted the post with the livein_caregivers FB account because they thought LC FB was an organization, :D ) so if ALL OF US can just post a little message in their FB or in any media FB with our OWN FB acct. we can awake their interest. I am just thinking of another option. I also posted a msj in the CTV mi-jung lee. so far it's not enough.

@Ying. I think those are good ideas, but not sure if it is the right way to say it. (like you said) I am not an expert either but the least thing we want is to make them upset, right?. and with our good or enough English (because most of us english is not our first language) it can be misunderstood.

I agree with you Brenda , the Philipine organizations have been asking for PR upon arrival for many years, but the minister always has an excuse" it would end the LCP", so we only ask our rights after finished our two year program, see what he would say...
WHAT ARE LIVE-IN CAREGIVERS' RIGHTS:
Can go back home country freely after finish the two year stressful hard working program?
What should we do and what can we do after work permit expired , medical insurance expired , social insurance expired?
How to support the dependants back home?
For how many years can see our kids ? Do they think it's ok they keep us to be apart from our kids for many years?

yeah , we need a good lawyer ...

Speaking of Human Rights. I've looked into Canadian Human Rights Act. I don't think we can file a complaint with them. There is no discrimination and that's what the Act is for. There is a web site. Look it up - Canadian Human Rights Commission. They also have offices in Ottawa, Edmonton and Montreal.

Does anyone know who was the lawyer/organization that dealt with that case when a caregiver got refused PR after second medical when she was diagnosed with cancer. That's when CIC dropped the second medical after some time. Maybe we can try contacting them.

I used to go to their office to ask my PR case, they gave me 30 mins free consultation.I was so impressed by ther professionalism and attitude.they have Chinese staff too.
good luck guys!

@ying- may be that would help, but we need to focus on making the processing time stable and definite, not like today it keeps on adding up,
@lulu- we can call them and ask them what they can do to help us about the situation that is happening right now, so saddening......

rosellyalung , all I want is just let us free after finishing our two year program, it's not right the processing time is over half a year...needless to say it's longer than our two year program, it's ridiculous...

@ying- ok that is a good idea

Guys,

I'm going to CBC on Monday to drop off our letter, can you name at least one reporter who we can address our letter to? And if you have last minute changes with the letter, message it to me on Sunday afternoon coz I'll have it ready at night.

May I suggest one more thing, Atty. Moyal is a well known Lawyer here in Toronto. My mom always consulted him for legal matters...his consultation I think is $150. Maybe all LC in Toronto, we can meet, share for his consultation and make an appointment with him. Let's just ask about what he thinks about our letter, who's the best person to deal with, what would be the pros and cons...etc

Why don't you write or see Miss Christine Reyes a filipina-canadian reporter working at City TV Toronto am sure she can help us Caregivers.

Ok, so I'll just address the letter to her and tell the information officer to give it over to her personally...By the way, we need to put contact details in our letter so she can reach us in case she needs to hear our side.

@pat1181-ok that is a good idea! that is nice one i appreciate all the efforts!

how can we get to this woman ? she should publish our pain to the outside world .

I was about to paste that same link here about "The Nanny Business"..maybe we can send her our letter. Can you help me search for the right contact details of Susan McClelland.

I already forward our letter to her susanmcclelland@bell.net It's better if all of us will thank her for that documentary and at the same time asking her to help us reach Minister Jason Kenney.
