WE should complain or get the attention of the immigration. The system is so unfair how about those people that are only bound to work for 24mos and already being realesed by their employer so the caregiver will wait for 11-12mos to get her owp, everything is already expired no ohip coverage etc..and you can't work for other people or other job becasue is it the policy. Is really unfair!

The immigration should prioritize the live in caregiver people who is applying OWP or PR Status rather than the people who are applying for Refugee status or Humanitarian Resetllement cause we are working hard for it and we are paying taxes to the government rather than those people applying for pr right away without rendering any obligation to canada or not even paying any tax! We should address this to the immigration ministry and to the prime minister!

Hi everyone,

Would like to know regarding procedure in applying PR. I will complete my 2 yr contract in a couple of months and wants to know the next step. Definitely will apply for PR. But I dont know how to get OWP. Reading this thread seems that I must wait for almost a yr to receive my PR. What will I do within that timeline? Meaning the 11 months of waiting. Should I stay with my present employer? Can I move out of my employer's house and apply in other jobs? What status am I in that 'moment'?

Thank you.

same here wanting to know if after 2yrs completing the 2 yr required for a live in position what's gonna happen? are we goin to be allowed to work for a live out position or part time nanny or whatsoever? or are we stuck til we get our owp? hope they will make the process faster than ever... I am dying for my children... and we all do... all sacrifices for our children for a good future... May the Lord bless us and guide us always and also the people who is processing our papers... thank you

You still work as a live in caregiver with whoever the employer stated on your work permit till you obtain your OWP. Once you have our OWP you can work for any employer and any type of job.
