Hi everybody,
One of my friends got her first initial approved letter from CIC in November,2013. and some of her friends got the letters around the same time. All of them are under live-in caregiver program and they submitted their application for PR around November, 2011, and early 2012 respectively. Among them, two are single and three are in marriages and with children. Now the families of the other two married ones have already got letters from Canadian embassy in China. BUT my friend who sent the application the earliest did not get any letter for her family yet. It's been more than one month after she got the initial approved letter. She is kind of worried.

Is there anybody has the same situation like her and waiting anxiously? would love to here from you and share our timelines.

thanks and good lucks to everyone!

Hi Everyone!
I want to thank you all for your help on this thread.
Please i'd like to ask a few questions that i'm not sure about, though i'm not sure it's directly related to topics discussed there.

What happens after a person's OWP expires? Is it renewable? For instance , in the case where a person is issued an OWP that expires same date as is on their passport(2015 for instance), does it mean they have to leave the country after?

Secondly, will the person be allowed to remain in the country based on having submitted an application for PR?
I ask because from the info on the CIC website, it takes an LIC 36 months to get PR. But if an OWP is just for a year, then what will be the status after it expires while still waiting for another 2years to get a response on my PR application?

This matter really bothers me. Please do you know anyone who has or is in similar situation? what did they do?

Does anyone have an idea?

Hi,yes you can renew your OWP 3 months before the expiration date at if your passport is gonna expired soon renew it first before renewing OWP because they will base on your passport.don't wait for PR because nobody knows when you gonna get it.i'm 40 months since I applied for pr and my husband papers still in queue for initial review.

Just wondering, would the process of renewing an OWP be same as renewing a work permit/extension of stay? I hear extension is only given once. What happens in the case where an extension was already granted in the past?

The form that you are going to use is same of extension of stay but you have to choose or put extension OPEN WORK PERMiT.check CIC website and the form is eelectronic so you have choices.trust me i just renewed my open work permit this year of september at got it november.

Congrats Rosellyalung! Not just 1 but 2 MRs...maybe you could call CIC and inform them that your child already had a medical exam and if they could just refer from it...just a thought
