Hello,

My fiancée, soon to be my wife in 4 days! applied for PR through the old live-in caregiver pathway as single. Below is our timeline. Please if anyone else applied, share your timeline as well so we can see when we should be expecting an approval!

this is our timeline so far

May 18th - sent OWP/PR Applications
May 24th - CIC received (according to canadapost)
July 19th - CIC opened OWP/PR and started processing
July 31st - OWP approved
Aug 4th - OWP received in mail

This is a painful wait as we just want to start our life together as well as start a family.

Well here is my timeline.

January 17, 2017 - Mailed my application for PR and OWP
February 20, 2017 - Received my open permit
July 28, 2017 - Received my eligibility letter for PR. Now I'm waiting for the medical and background checks instructions.

This is only I can share.
And also, I got married last August but still not informing the CIC of my marital status because our marriage certificate is still in the process at Statistics. Because base on others, once you inform the CIC, they will ask you the marriage certificate from Statistics. Anyone here who has an idea about adding dependents?

We are still waiting for the PR to be completed. To comment on the post about marriage, we actually just got married last week and do not intend to inform CIC of the change, I think it will hold up the process. After the PR we can inform them I guess. Can anyone comment?

No. I am wondering as its been 6month can i call CIC to enquire when eligibilty letter is expected to be sent out?

In the USA they give time line to follow through each stage and you can call if certain documents at certain stages have not been received

Hello everyone. Im feeling a bit worried because i only sent my OWP application on Nov 6 and my live in caregiver work permit is going to expire on december. Im still having doubts if i did the right thing or if i should have applied for an extension of current work permit instead.. cic website is a bit confusing for me. Ive read the instruction guide on how to apply for PR under the LICP several times and it baffles me how i could possibly miss the part about sending OWP application together with the PR app.. Also, i had help with my PR application (mostly documents gathering and filling up of forms) from friends who were also LICs prior and all of them told me that they did not apply for OWP and yet they were granted OWP so i presumed if you applied for PR its already a given that youd be granted OWP as well. Sigh. I guess I should have consulted forums like this as well before applying instead of relying solely on my friends' and mom's experience..

You should submit your OWP together with PR application. Now you call the CIC or send an email on what to do. Usually OWP comes earlier than the PR. It is the guide of PR application that you should submit the OWP as well. Hope this can help.

Hello Everyone. How are we holding up?
I have plans to go home (Nigeria) this December for a month to visit my husband. I went home last December for our wedding and came back here 2weeks after the wedding. I was hoping to schedule my flight this weekend but with the change in the processing time, we do not know if we should continue the travel plans or wait and hope that our processing will be processed really fast. I applied as married under the old pathway. Below is my timeline so far:

OWP/PR Application sent: May 18th, 2017
Application received: May 24th, 2017 (Canada post)
AOR received and processing started: July 17th, 2017
Aug 9th: OWP application returned for correction
August 10th: OWP application sent back to cic
Nov 28th: OWP approved
Nov 29th: OWP received in mail
