Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello, I am (or was..) a single dad in Alberta, who hired a foreign worker as a Live In Caregiver, under the program. She has been at our residence since 2008. Since then, her and I have become "involved" and as a result of that we had a baby, born last year at a local hospital. Almost 11 months later, a call to CRA with a question related to income tax return, had red-flagged my child tax credit account as I am now declared "common Law" , as it was stated "from the day the baby is born" - we are "Common Law". Fine for me, but my now employee turned common law partner has serious concerns as to her marital status, whom on a recent work-permit renewal application answered "single" (after all, we did not have any wedding) and how this situation may effect her intention to apply for PR and eventually sponsor her to children to Canada. Please help, thank you.
