Hi guys,
I have come to canada from Singapore and I want to sponsor my helper who was with me in Singapore to Canada.
This girl is a Filipino and she has completed her high school. Then she joined a 4 year course in college but completed only 3 years of that course.
Will she qualify for the educational requirement clause ?

Thanks

Hi VSSP000,

According to the CIC site...

Successful completion of the equivalent of a Canadian secondary school education
You must have successfully completed the equivalent of Canadian high school education (secondary school). Because of the differences in school systems across Canada, it is not possible to give a precise number of years. In most provinces, it takes 12 years of schooling to obtain a Canadian high school diploma. The immigration officer assessing your application will let you know what is needed.

At least six months’ training or at least one year of full-time paid work experience as a caregiver or in a related field or occupation (including six months with one employer) in the past three years
To claim work experience, you need to have worked for one year, including at least six months of continuous employment for the same employer. This work experience must be in a field or occupation specific to what you will do as a live-in caregiver. This experience must have been acquired within the three years immediately before the day on which you make an application for a work permit as a caregiver.
To claim training, it must have been full-time training in a classroom setting. Areas of study could be early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric nursing or first aid.

What course did she take in college?

Hi Puddee,
Thanks for your reply.
I read the cic instructions before, but it's not clear to me.
Work experience wise there is no issue as she has been working as a nanny for past 4 years in Singapore.
If I remember well she has done something related to nursing etc. ( I can confirm that with her when it's morning there) but I know that she did not complete the full course. She did 3 years of that 4 year course.

Now Cic says that at least 2 years after highschool, so theoritically she has done 10years plus 3 years ,but she did not complete the degree , so she doesn't have the degree certificate. So I am not sure if she will qualify for on the educational criterion ?

She is qualified. In the Philippines she only needs 72 units of credits in College which is equivalent to Grade 12 in Canada. As you has said she had 3 years already of the course.

Thanks mylady833.
I she has applied for the transcript and we will come to know the exact credits after she receives the transcript.
She told me that it was 21 credits per semester so 3 years should be 6 semesters , I am hopeful that she will have more than 72 credits for sure in her transcript .

Thanks again for help.
