Little discrepancy in my wife's docs - seniors please advise !

My wife's date of birth in my file that was turned down back in 2002 is differerent from what is mentioned in her present docs. Though difference in only for one moth but it is there. Should i attach an explanatory note saying that previously written date of birth was not correct due to such and such reason and now we have got it corrected in all her docs. OR just let it go like this.i know it is a horrible mistake and would hit us hard once found out during docs verification at VO.I dont want to hide that i had applied earlier as it would be even worse blunder.
Please suggest how to handle this discrepancy as i need 4 adaptability points for my wife's education badly.

Hi,
As the date of birth of any individual submitted to CIC is very important and any mistake happened early could not be ignored, even though it is for one day. I suggest you should inform CIC regarding the changes with brief explanation accordingly.

dear friends, very true the most appropriate way is to intimate them about it, but i am really finding it hard what to write and how to convince them.can someone share some content that i may write to them and would hopefully satisfy them at the same time.
Date of birth has been corrected in nationa ID card, Passport, birth certificate, Marriage certificate and secondary school certificate. Any logical excuse !! please do share ....

Just mention that there was an error on the previously submitted d.o.b of your wife which has now been corrected. Give all copies of the supporting documents for evidence. Unless the visa office ask you further to give an explanation (I hope it will not), you don't have to bother much about it.

wish you had not asked me about it, but fact is that i needed a fresh passport for my wife due to some reason.so got new birth certificate with changed DOB and then got new national ID and thus got new passport.in the part of world where we come from, its a norm.
now all her doc are having same DOB but offcourse when compared with the old ones in my first application, may raise VO's eyebrows.
just want you to tell me some suitable excuse / reasoning that should satisfy them.
One friend here also told that they dont go deep into old files and you can also let it go like this.but again if they do, would definitly put a big question mark on the verasity of my docs.please suggest qorax.thanks

Obviously it's the wisest thing to info the VO truthfully - the cause of this modification... however, given your ironic situation, it might not suit u well. If u could link your need to something else - it might be acceptable... however, it's u & only u who can reason it... 'coz, we r unaware of your circumstances.

Your friend might not have advised to appropriately... the VOs would take any & every step to Xcheck your claims... older files would be pulled-out... info will be tallied... and taking cue from the current analysis of PR processing - things might go wrong due to want of a correct picture from u... CIC is tad bent towards 'deep cleaning' rather than a facade wash.

I am not expert, but by reading this, a question is raised in my mind, as you said that you had applied in the past; with DOB you must have given (old) passport no.; if (date in) that passport is not expired; VO could ask how & why did you get new passport.

Actually our old passports were manual and since 2004, we are having computerised passports.However i think i dont need to explain the passports phenomenon to them. What i said above is just upto us and since qorax asked, i told the reason but surely i am not going to give this reason to CIC !! Only the explanation that i require to give to them is "why i nedeed to correct the DOB in present docs".

How long do the CIC or other govt. offices need to maintain the records after the decision is made? I know they will have a time frame. In Australia all documents like tax and other documents were needed to be maintained for 7 years only and in your case it has been 9 years now. I am sure people from Canada may have an answer to the question.

A quick thought, how do CIC monitors the applications? is it not by Passport numbers? If our friend has got a new passport for his wife with a new Date of birth will CIC, CIO or VO find it?

pretty simple, i have to mention the previous file number thereby acknowledging that i had applied back in 2002 and got rejected.Now this reference number should be suuficient to dig out everything they need, that's what i think. qorax is pretty sure that they would pull out every single paper to tally the record but how old is not known.
