Linking MyCIC account to PR application

Hey, I was locked out yesterday too but today I was able to link in first attempt.
Use application number and family name and leave passport info blank, fill out everything else
(Remember, all info about PA)
Gud luck

Here's step by step I learned when i link my account:

1. Go to this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp
2. Select the blue button with "Continue to GCKEY"
3. It will direct you to this landing page: https://clegc-gckey.gc.ca/j/eng/l?ReqID=s242cec6e6186f71c550ceaca98ff8a142c1ae0fe8
4. Key in your username and password and click sign in button.
5. Click continue button.
6. At the terms and condition page, click I accept button.
7. At the identity validation, keyin your answer and click continue button.
8. It will show you the home page,on the area of "what do you want to do" go, further below until you reach this part: Link an existing application to this account.Then click the blue button which says "link application to this account".
9. When you reach this page that shows "Link an existing application to this account ", go further below down until you reach "What did the applicant apply for?".
10. Under the category select the dropdown menu bar as permanent residence.
11. Under the sub-category select the dropdown menu bar as family classes(Spouse). (which applicable for you)
12. For the application details, for the Please select one, dropdown menu select your Application number and Family Name ( if you have received your SA and AOR2 etc you can use this)else use the other option.
13. Fill out the information for application number.
14. For the Applicant's personal information, Take note of the INSTRUCTION:
Applicant's personal information
Please enter city and country of birth, or passport information.
What I did I entered my passport information and skipped and leave the city and country of birth blank/null.
15. Other Application Information part, keyin province,city,current marital status: married,Number of family members, including the primary applicant, that are part of this application: I put 2 since I as the Spouse being sponsored and of course my spouse as the sponsor, so the count is 2. Smiley
16.Click search my account.
17. Once a match is found, it will say:
Thank you for entering information.
We compared it with our system and found : an application that matches info...
Note: by linking your application to this account, you will now receive all messages and xxxxx
Select the LINK MY APPLICATION BUTTON.
18. Then it will link application.
19. Then it will show you the account in your main page:
Under View my submitted applications or profiles, in the column action click status and messages.
20. It will direct you to this Application/profile details

Details
Application/profile status XXXX help
Review of eligibility XXXXX help
Review of medical results XXXXX help
Review of submitted documents XXXX help
Scheduling an interview XXXXX help
A background check is needed XXXX help

As you can see on your profile, if you need further explanation, you can use the help blue icon next to each details, it will direct you to the page which explains further your assesments Cheesy

thanks for posting it. i was able to link yesterday but not able to access any information about our file. I tried again using your method and again was able to link my husbands file to my account but again there is no way for me to see anything. the blue button thats supposed to be where i can view my applications does not exist. i will have to call cic tomorrow and ask them why.

I've sent a case specific enquiry about this, because our application should be able to link without problem.

I have the same question, is it the sponsor who will link PR application or the PA?

Sharing my experience with this in case it might be of help to anyone. I finally linked my application on the 5th attempt.

Apparently, the passport info they had for me was still from my previous passport and my marital status was still "Single" even though my application is under the Family Class - Spouses category. When I submitted my application, I of course used my new passport info and put in "Married" as my status. But it appears the information attached to my UCI has not been updated and is still based on information I submitted 3 years ago when applying for a TRV.

I only found this out when I checked the GCMS notes I ordered previously because, like many here, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't link my application. Bottom-line, make sure the info you put in matches the info they have for you, even if you know it's outdated. When I did that, they finally found my application. In my opinion, it's hardly worth the trouble though. Didn't really learn much new. GCMS is much more detailed.

Hopefully, that's it indeed! If you've ordered GCMS notes, you can take a look at the Client Details section. That's where I saw the info they have on file for me which was still from my old TRV application.

Question, if in fact it is still showing Single, would that create an issue/delay in the processing of the PR visa? After all we did send a spousal application with a marriage certificate.

That's a good question and I'd been wondering that as well. At the time I requested the GCMS notes my application had been in process for 11 months and it's surprising they still hadn't updated it by then. I don't really have an answer. Perhaps, others who applied for a TRV before applying for PR might?

That's a good question and I'd been wondering that as well. Perhaps, others who applied for a TRV before applying for PR might?

Well the thing is it's not something you can change. They should update the status. If you're applying for a spousal sponsorship, I'd imagine that the marital status tagged to your UCI should be updated, but like I said it's not something we can change unless we come across it by chance for example on the GCMS notes or in cases like this where one figures out that by chance let's try single when accessing the system and it works.

I have issues linking the sponsorship to myCIC.

What do I include in the number of people?

I'm sponsoring both my parents and two brothers.
I have sponsored my wife in the past.

Shall I put 6 or 5?

I have tried with both numbers, it doesn't seem to find my application.

So I was able to link my account and found out that on the cell opposite "Review of Submitted Documents" there is just a lonely blank cell. No anything. Just blank white space. All other cells are populated with info. Anyone else has similar results?
