I want to start a thread to help one another on trying to figure out the tips/tricks to linking the application. My husband is my sponsor and I've been trying to link the application to the account off and on for about a month and a half starting July 19th, 2017. I feel like I have tried every possible way and still no luck. I have even tried the hitting the space bar on city of birth but it would not allow me to move on as it was in red meaning I had to type something in. Anyway I would love to hear success stories as well as anyone else who needs help, like myself, find luck on successfully linking it!

Did you put 2 for number of dependants

use this way
1. choose application # and Family name
2. Do not fill place of birth and county of birth leave both of them blank not even a space.
3. Fill passport information
4.fill the last part as in your application
5. # of applicants =2
try this, this worked for me.

Just remember if you don't link it's not the end of the world. It's not mandatory, it doesn't change the process, you can do it at any time throughout, so don't let it stress you out too much

What worked for me was when I put applicant number as 1 and entered my husband as single. Go figure .

what worked for me is entering single as well. lol

btw, i did 50 tries using 10 different accounts.

(Reposting here from another topic)
So I got my first email from IRCC on my sponsorship application today. (For Dependent Child).
So, with all the info I had read from this forum, tried the link my application. (I am the sponsor and I was linking to my (sponsor) account).
Went in with the details as I submitted and I got the no application message.

Later after couple of hours, tried again (used the File # and Last name option). This time, the change I made in my search is, as many suggested here, put the number of applicants in applications as 2 (instead of 1).
Thank God, it worked. And dont be fooled... the search result page just says we searched with the informations and : an application was found.... in a normal font. It wont show the Application details. For a moment as I saw a blank area between two red lines (where I was hoping to see the application details), i thought it didnt work. But then when I read the info provided below, I was happy and then clicked the link my application. Thats it.
Now my kid's sponsorship application is showing up in my account.
