Hi, me (canadian citizen) and my wife (Philippines citizen) recently had our first baby, we have already applied for my wifes PR and are expecting it to be ready around February. We are applying for our sons certificate of citizenship and plan to apply for a limited validity passport so he can come to canada when my wifes permident residency is approved. I am just wondering what are the chances of his limited validity passport to be rejected? What kind of circumstances are they looking for to approve the passport? On the CiC website it makes it sound like they are very strict about it but is it different if it is a new born?

Thank you for any help.

The child needs to have his citizenship certificate and they will approve his temporary passport in order to come to Canada. The only chance of it being rejected would be if he is not actually a citizen.

I was told that he can be issued a limited validity passport based on his applicatiocitizenship certificate being processed already
