Some of your information is incorrect. 1st round is only Canadian students. Then there is a competition for the leftover spots in round 2. There is no mention about how only an extremely small number of IMGs match and what is usually left is family medicine. /I think your portrayal is a bit too optimistic. Difficulty of IMGs practicing in Canada is available all over the internet but I am constantly seeing people on this forum with no idea. If you want to practice immigrating to Canada is not a good idea.

Hi there,
Thank you for taking out the time to read. But the first iteration do include IMGs only. They have a separate steam to compete - an IMG stream.

Second iteration happens for the left out seats where the CMGs and IMGs compete.

If you stills have any doubts, please refer the link below:

And yes!! It is difficult to get a match for Canadian Residency and like you said it is all over the internet. So my blog is for those who really want to give it a try and not willing to give up. Those who are planning to migrate still have a choice, but some of us are already here.

Learned something new. I have never heard of any IMG getting a 1st round match. These days many Canadians don't match which maybe one or 2 people did in the past. Med school enrolment in Canada has gone up and many provinces have actually cut residency spaces. Such a long shot not sure why anyone would want to do it when they could move to somewhere lile the US who has tons of open residency spots.
