To those live in caregivers whos occupation written in the work permit is nannies,babysitters and par help please share your experiences. Contract and LMO is under the live in caregiver program, but in the work permit live in caregiver under occupation is not written. I just want to know if after two years you are able to apply for open permit and PR .... Getting anxious since i just have few more months before i finish my two years.. I tried calling CIC but i cant get through the lines are always busy ... Hope you guys can share some of your experiences... Thanks!!!

Hi, I had the same occupation and I just changed my work permit before applied for PR/OWP because I wanted attend ESL program.

One question?Do you apply your work permit as Nanny here in Canada or Outside?If here,your not still under the Live In Caregiver Program which didnt count any hours that you work as Nanny from the day that you started.My point of view to your problem,that your two years already as NAnny will not be counted!Better apply now into the program before its too late....If you have more questions regarding this matter you can email me and feel free to talk about this.We were on the same page my dear.Blessings

I am also almost finished with my 24 months under the LIC program and my work permit says babysitters. I am not worried because this is the program I applied under and this is what was printed on my work permit at the port of entry as well as what CIC mailed to me when I renewed my work permit. I do not think it matters what job name they place on the work permit. These jobs are all under the category of Live in Caregiver. Wether you are a nanny, babysitter or Au Par, it doesnt matter, they just have different words for the same job. Basically the term Live in Caregiver is just the official term. You could be in charge of children or elderly, it doesn't matter. As long as u are working full time and living at your employer's premises as per your contract. If you are still worried, you should ask a professional to at least get your mind at ease.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, i applied outside canada. And I got my work permit at my point of entry which is in the airport. You mean if i applied it outside canada then my months are counted in the completion of my two years, am i right. Ill wait for your reply, thanks! Anyway are tou a filipina?

Hi, sorry for the blank response earlier. I'm a newbie so I can't send personal messages. I think as long as your employer signed a contract with u under the live in caregiver program and applied for an LMO under the live in caregiver program it should not b a problem and if by some unlikely occurence that they hv a problem when we file, we will have those documents to prove. Let's not start panicking. The end is near guys. Good luck to everyone. By the way, I'm not Filipina.

Hi again guys, I just called CIC, they say not to worry about the words like baby sitters etc. However if you are still concerned, just call them with your client I'd which is on your work permit and they will check your file for conformation that you are indeed under the live in caregiver program. Once again good luck.
