I am looking to sponsor a Live-In Caregiver as my current one will be leaving.

The definition for eligibility I found is:

You must have six months of full-time training in a classroom setting or twelve months of full-time paid employment, including at least six months of continuous employment with one employer in a field or occupation related to the job you are seeking as a live-in caregiver. You may have gained your training or experience in areas such as early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric nursing or first aid. You may also have completed your training as part of your formal education. This experience must have been obtained within the three years immediately prior to the day on which you submit an application for a work permit.

My applicant does not have formal childcare experience but has completed her Nursing Degree in 2006. After she graduated she did not work in a hospital setting but has been working as a medical writer since then. Will her nursing education suffice or does she need her RN license or related experience (is there a timeframe for the Nursing degree)?

1. S/he hasn't had any experience related to the LCP since 2006, it has to be in the past 3 years. You can expect s/he will be refused a TWP.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I will continue looking for another candidate.

Are you sponsoring a foreign worker or within Canada?
