We are looking to include a few letters of support from a mix of family (my brother & husbands mom and possibly siblings) and friends (3). Is there a particular format that needs to be followed? Can they include pictures in the body of the letters themselves? Is 5 letters too many?

My rep actually asked me to send in 10-15 total. My spouse and I are married but we cohabited for less than a year altogether. Every situation is different. I managed to get 12 letters total from everyone that can verify our relationship history. I sent in wedding pictures as well maybe 20 total, and pictures throughout the relationship

No set format. No, they shouldn't include pictures. 5 is about the max you would want to send.

I only included one which was from my parents only. My lawyer didn't even suggest if I should get a letter of support from friends or other family member....and with the new update with this application, it also says you don't have to submit too many documents from what I remembered. Example: Text conversation and call logs. I honestly don't know what CIC wants sometimes.

In my case we included 2 letters from us, 1 letter from my husbands parents, one from his aunt and uncle, 1 from his sister, 1 from my mother and 3 from my friends. We also included copy of their id and on some contact info.

Agree with above poster, it's more about the quality and details within the letters. After speaking with an immigration consultant he told us a few points to address within the letters:

- Start with I ____(full name)______________ fully declare the following:
- In the first paragraph they are to give their full name, citizenship, date of birth, where they were born, and address.
- Third paragraph: I am writing on behalf of ______(sponsor and PA)______about their application for_________ and then a sentence or two of why it's a good thing. eg. I'm please that my daughter and son-in-law are proceeding with the application for _______ as they are a loving couple and deserve to be together here in Canada.
- Letter should be organized chronologically sharing brief history of relationship from their standpoint, starting with how you two first met and how/when they found out.
- Details on how they first became aware of the relationship eg. Jane met John at a convention on July 2nd 2015 and shortly after I remember she sent us an email saying how she thought she had just met the love of her life.
- They are to state exactly when they FIRST met your spouse with exact date and details.
- They are to give specific examples of when they've been with your spouse with exact dates and if possible a personal anecdote about it eg. I remember John coming to our annual BBQ at our house in Toronto on August 5th 2016. I remember how funny he was and at one point he told the family a joke and it made Jane's grandmother cry with laughter.
- Give personal and positive opinion on relationship eg. John makes Jane so happy. I see how he treats her like a queen. They make a good team and I can see how much in love they are.
- State WHY they think you are a good couple, what you have in common. eg. I think it's great that Jane has found someone who shares her strong faith.
- Brief conclusion on why they think you two should be together here in Canada or what it means emotionally
- End with statement saying "If you have further questions please contact me, my telephone number is: xxx-xxxx and my email address is me@me.com
- Notorize key letters (letter from Sponsor, PA, and at least 2 key letters from family/friends) THIS IS NOT NECESSARY but some people do it to add more credibility.

Of course there are no rules or guidelines to follow and EVERYONE's letter will be different and I'm sure EVERY immigration consultant says different things and that's ok. So please don't take the above points as things that you MUST include. I just wanted to share with you what our consultant suggested.
