Letter of Recommendation for Universities

I am preparing to apply for canadian universities for winter intakes. I am now in the stage of getting my LORs ready. I have a few questions.


i found that university of Saskatchewan and Dalhousie have pre-formatted document for LORs. I am not sure if this is for students studying in the university or for students applying to U of Sask. Can someone clarify if the LORs to Canadian universities is like pre-written by universities or is it like the USA format in a word doc/PDF.

Hello friend...

I applied for USASK MPH PROGRAM (Masters in public health).... back in February and got an email after 6 days where they said they have accepted me into the program...

For me... and I think maybe for all postgraduate programs they asked for 3 LOR....

When submitting your on line app you should write the email address of your 3 references that would write them for you... after you submit your online application they will receive an email with a link to fill the LOR online.... which is not really a LOR but a formulary where they also should write an statement...

I highly recommend that you have talked to your professors or employers in advance and let them know they would be receiving that email.... if they don't want to submit the LOR or did not receive the email or you want a different person to submit a LOR they should fill the GSR 101 form (I am not sure if I got the name right)...

my application status making me confuse

is any one there to tell me that my application status showing "Dept Recommend" .... what that its mean?

it is up to 2 days of changed status but still couldnt recive any email regarding admission ... i wrote them twice but they didnt reply my single email

As per my knowledge if you apply online then you have to give official mail ids of your employer or professor who can fill the recommendation form for you that's directly send to them by university. Mail id should be official it can't be like gmail, yahoo and others.
Secondly if you applying paper based then your LOR'S must be sealed and send directly by your recommender to university.

Well that is not so true... I was admitted last March.. Two of my professors gave me yahoo and Hotmail email addresses and they received the mail and there were no problems with that... They filled their LOR and I got admitted just 3 days after submitting all my documents... And neither USASK says anything about using email accounts from yahoo, Gmail or similar servers... And believe me I have digged into USASK WEB PAGE A LOT..

also remember if you want to change one or more of your references they will have to fill and send via courier the GSR to 01 for....

The key point here is that you should talk to them in advance and have they commit to do so online... Because if not it is going to be big trouble for you my friend...

No, and I am assuming you meant email address.

You simply need to provide your reference's email address and he/she will receive a link to complete a form.
