Letter of Introduction and Visa-Expiration dates

Hello Everyone,

I do not know if this questions has already been asked, and I've tried the cic support but only got copied text from their page...:-(

I have 2 small issues:

1. The expiration Date on the Letter of introduction: is it the same as my visa will have? Or does my Visa start once I arrived in Canada and talked to an immigration officer?
The expiration date on my letter is 15th May, 2018, and I only got a flight and enough money and time right now. And it would be bad if I arrived in like April, and had to leave again in May because the POE expiration = Visa expiration date. And right now I might still be able to apply for a new visa.

2. I applied for an International Experience Canada Visa, but on the form it says work permit. Are those two the same in this case? Do I have to keep something in mind?

Thank you in advance for all the help!

Kind Regards

All explained on the CIC site

1) http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=846&top=15

You must arrive in Canada whilst the letter is still valid, so use it or lose it. Once you have taken up the letter you are free to come and go as you want subject to the standard entry requirements for temp residents at the border.

2) the IEC program is an open work permit issued when you arriv e in Canada and present your passport, letter of introduction, travel insurance for the full term applicable to your country and proof of access to at least 2500 dollars.

Assuming you meet the above requirements your permit will be issued when you arrive and be valid for the time agreed for your country within the IEC program.

Hi!

Thanks for the Quick answer!
So that means if my Letter is valid till 15th May 2018, and i arrive on the 14th my work permit / visa will be for the duration of One year in the iec case. So like 13th May 2019?
Cause i feel really confused by the cic site concerning this topic and i dont want to arrive there and just leave because i only Managed to arrive shortly before the expiration of the letter.

For 2) i got all of that. I was just confused because i applied for the iec, which is shown in the cic portal, but the final answer stated work travel =)

Thanks again!
