Else you can also ask your agent for application no(15digit) and it will directly link your application on cic.
If file was submitted by representative, you won't able to link it online since they have their own CIC account where they receive updates.
There's no advantage of linking online these days as CIC isn't even updating the medical status. It only shows application under progress.

Most of the students I know have linked their profiles online and have total access to their applications. And CIC do update the status. Believe me.

2. I know many students who have filed for Fall intake, and linked their applications. No updates for them.
I have my application linked on cic and I'm receiving every single update about my appl.
As about 2nd point. I don't know whether your agent has linked it or not. But bro most of the agents tell you that they have linked the profile but actually they only rely on emails.
Mine said the same but later on, he confessed and said you can link if you have a surname.
My case is being handled by immigration lawyer. He has access to his own online portal. He doesn't need to link applications.
What kind of updates did you get on your portal?
Embassy takes much time to issue visa
Bcoz now they starts issuing visa of students who applied file in April
