Hi there,

You can add me:

nevillek
Applied: May 2nd (full amount paid)
Blank Update: May 5th
Current Status: Waiting as of June 30th (day 60)

If anyone can help me with this please: I expect to receive my PGWP by end of July/beginning of August (90-100 days). Then I have to apply for a new TRV since I wish to go back to my home country, India for a 4-5 month holiday. This process takes additional 3 weeks. However, I want to go to India ASAP so my question is.. Can I apply for a new TRV from India instead of applying within Canada and wasting another 3 weeks? I know it's preferable to get the TRV before leaving Canada, but I don't see a problem if I have a valid PGWP in hand.

(My current TRV/study permit is valid only until Aug 31 so a new TRV is a must)
Hello Nevillek,

I strongly suggest you sit it out for another 21 days (3 weeks) to get a new TRV. Going back home without a new TRV is a big risk. In fact there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to return. Secondly, the available literature on PGWP or indeed other WP/SP holders requires them to apply from inside Canada before they leave.

I also suggest you call CIC at 1-888-242‑2100 and talk to an agent. Do the same on different days by talking to a different agent to confirm. They are open Mon to Fri between 8:00am and 4:00pm.

Good luck.

Cheers!

The time provided is according to your local time, except for statutory holidays.

Also remember to choose one of the first five recorded options before you can speak to an agent. Tomorrow (July 1, 2015) is statutory holiday (Canada day). So try from Thursday.

All the best.

Cheers!

Hello nevillek,

I am wondering that how you paid the full fees because I applied on 3rd may and there was no option of paying $255 , also in the spread sheet on this forum there are many guys who applied after you and they also paid $155.

The extra fee of $100 was announced around Feb 21, 2015. At the time right up to the start of May, 2015 those extra fees were paid separately via this CIC external payment site https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/welcome.do?lang=en; because CIC hadn't configured the payment system to show $255 instead of $155. Also the CIC site didn't explain it under the document checklist for every applicant to see it. Once one paid the $100 fee and thus obtaining a generated receipt, they would then upload it as an extra document under the optional document section. After that, the applicant would then submit their application in addition to other documents at once.

Its only recently after a number of complaints and confusion that the system was reconfigured to show $255 as a PGWP fee. That is why for those who applied after Feb 21, 2015, CIC would ask them to pay $100 during the processing of their application.

If CIC asks you to pay the extra fee of $100, use the link I've provided above, get a generated receipt, and upload it the same day.

Cheers!

My case is a bit different. I applied for PGWP on 19th Feb and it was through paper-based application. The receipt of the paper application was acknowledged by CIC on March 9, 2015. On April 20, I received a mail through my agent that I should pay additional $100 and I responded immediately. The receipt from CIC for the payment of additional fee shows that it was made on the same day.
Please, based on the information provided above, when should I assume that my application was submitted. Is it on March 9, or April 20?
Again, is our application for "new employer" or "same employer"?

Hello Vctrokoyeeducation,

Since you used a paper application, your submission date is March 9, 2015.

New or same employer depends on each individual applicant. Some applicants apply to stay with same employer, while others apply to work for a new employer.

Cheers!

I called CIC, and the customer representative told me that my application is assumed to be submitted on 22 April instead of March which implies that I should start counting from that date.

Really? That is too bad. I guess you have to wait longer. You also have to know that sometimes they respond like that to put people off their back because applicants are calling in all the time. So all you can do is to wait. Usually when one pays their extra $100 when it is requested for by CIC, it doesn't take that long to get an approval and a posted mail of a PGWP.

Nevertheless, good luck.

Cheers!

Jubear, thanks for your words of encouragement. I want to believe that the representative provided wrong information. I think he was probably talking about when CIC received the extra $100 receipt.
