Legal change of name

Hi,

I am in a dilemma here. Sometime in 1997 I changed the way my first name is spelled and had followed the legal procedure for the name change in my home country.

All my documents prior to 1997 like high school certificates/ marriage certificate/ date of birth certificate of my daughter bear the previous spelling of my first name.

I am unable to locate the newspaper advertisements and the original or a copy of the affidavit for name change. I have in my possession an expired passport with the old first name along with the current passport with the changed first name.

I will appreciate if someone could help me with the documents I need to send along with my PR application in absence of these documents (newspaper advertisements & affidavit for change of name).

Maybe you can write to the registrar in your country for copy of the change document. If it is not possible then you need an affadavit and any docs you can find.

Hi All,
My sister is also in the same situation and she needs advice. She was going to start her express entry process but her name in her bachelor's and Master's is different as well as with no last name. Now her name in her passport and all other legal docs are different with last name. So the confusion here is that how should be get the WES done? I means should we get it done with old name and no last name and then submit an affidavit and LOE later on to IRCC or should be notify WES regarding this and they will issue the report with the correct name? Any help will be really appreciated.
