guys i want to apply with my wife she had(TS in nursing with 5 years of experience in AUH or American University of Beirut Medical Center, and i have bachelor of computer science and technology with 2 years of experience) and we want to apply as a Skilled Worker my friends told me it will take about 6 month if my wife is the primary(because she was an experienced nurse) and i am the spouse but can we go to Quebec if we don't know french but we know English, can we move to another Province when we arrive.and can we start working using our certifications without or before to equivalent them. please guys i need help..
... I definitely advice you to apply ... I guess it won't take a lot because you have two pushes in your condition, where nurses have the highest priorities, and secondly you are considered as family.
But don't listen to anyone regarding the timeline of the process, even the attorneys (my advice only), cz it depends on each case and if you apply you will remember my words :D
... In your case (your wife is a nurse), before the new rules yes you may go to Quebec even if you don't know French, I know a person who got his interview in Istanbul, he is the field of nursing, doesn't know any French word (but perfect in English), where the ambassador informed him that only he will accept him because of his profession, otherwise he wouldn't ...
But now there are the new rules and exams regarding the two languages, if you don’t have them you won’t get points, my suggestion is : apply and give it a shot (in my opinion even with the big Canadian header rules, Quebec’s first reference is the profession and its needs for the job market).
… Yes you can move to other provinces once you have landed in Quebec.
… You must work in Quebec anything related or not to your fields, cz you need the experience Quebecoise in such aspect … And I think (90% sure) that you have to get equivalent to your certifications … In your case it takes one year, but you can reduce it into 6 months (in case of full courses’ hours).

Hope this will help. ;)
Peace.

thanks ThunderBird11,Jet,lemans207 and all of you guys you are so helpful one more thing i need to know...the arrival, when we land is there any help like :

-Offer a small apartment to live for first period until you find the job.

-Give you small budget to live until you find job.

-We must have about 5000 $ in our account is it as financial insurance or to spend for the first period and when you finish your money should they help you.

-Is it easy to find any kind of job in Toronto(as i know the minimum wages :10.25)to move over there.

-How much is the minimum cost living with and without apartment.(one room apartment about 600)

-Is it possible for the principle to know basics of french + very good English while spouse no french and very good English.

Briefly i have no idea about what to do when we arrive i have some worries about that??
thanks

everything is possible, but you have to get 63 point, calculate your points should be 62 without adaptability because always they give 1point/6 as minimum

so to get 62 points depends on you profession and university degree as your wife has TS you'll get less points.

since she is the main applicant should be good in french to get points ;)

I suggest you both do english ilets and on january 2012 you can apply to federal, it will take less time.

because if you apply to quebec, you have to apply to federal and wait more than a year to get interview and if you pass it, you will wait more.

read other forums you will learn more, actually your talking about things after you land,

so first do your first step

you can put 10,000$ minimum better as couple,

I think this is too early to start thinking about those things …
First, you have to pass the earlier stages (fill the first application, get an interview + the approval etc…) and then you can move to others.
Anyway …
-Overall, Canada is a country made for and by immigrants, and they have a packed system for the new arrivals as well as their citizens …
Referring to your backgrounds (profession, language etc .. [you and your wife]), it is easy to find an apartment and booking online also before your arrival, the rent vary between places (close or far from the downtown Montreal), anyway you can check more about every details on the net (various websites) .. if your first question is considered for the government, be sure that the government won’t offer you an apartment .. You should find yours ;D.
-For the second question, you may apply as soon as you land in Canada on the “chomage” you can get a small salary as 700$/month I think till you find a job.
PS : for the 1st and 2nd question, don’t mention those worries inside the interview, or if you’ve been asked don’t tell the interviewer that you will use these benefits because you will be refused directly haha .. (it is supposed that the government benefits from you and your wife and not the contrary).
:p-Now, for the third question, upon the Canadian statistics and data, a 5000$ can be enough for the first three months (basics) till you find a job … but for reference to the bank statement for you and your wife .. I am sure that this is not enough, you should increase at least the double of it to be approved.
-For the fourth question, I don’t think it will be hard to find any kind of job, but you should search very well.
-For the fifth question, I already told you the cost of living depends on various parameters … Anyway go online and you can see the updates that you need.
-For your last question, 80% of the Canadian people talk the English language even in Quebec province, you don’t have to worry about your French language, but it is preferable and better for you both to get some French basics, cz your salary will be better in all Canada (generally) if you know two languages.

….. Finally, we all have worries … my answer trust god, make connections before you go there.
Gd luck.

hello, this is our case.

my husband applied for Canada FSW in 2005. (we weren't married back then). the application was filed in Damascus VO. he got the approval in 2009, and had the medical / ppr late 2011.

in 2009 his case was transferred to Warsaw Office. and in April 2012, we got married and notified CIC about Status changing (since my husband already got his visa). they already requested the Medical for me which i did and submitted by end of June 2012. till now we didnt receive any answer from them (regarding PPR). the main concern is husband's medical will expire by the 26th of September. this date is mandatory since you need to land before expiry of the medical.

has anyone from lebanon went through this kind of cases? and what does happen usually?

he got the visa and the landing papers but we got married afterwards.. so his status changed. in this case we had to notify them and what happened is now landing papers (not visa) are not valid anymore.. so now they are processing my case (as a dependent).

yes yes this is normal procedure, when you get anyway the approval and landing papers, it is stated in bold that in case of change of status (married, divorced.. had a baby) between the time of submission of application and before landing you need to notify CIC (in our case Warsaw Office) which already replied and asked for my meds which i submitted late june. in any case i just checked the operational Bulleting on CIC and it turned out that Officers have the power to extend Medical Dates.

here:
The process applies to cases where a final decision of an officer is pending only due to the expiration of a medical certificate or when the validity of the medical certificate is about to expire and the applicant is unable to land before it expires. This process is limited to applicants who had a routine immigration medical examination (IME) done by a panel physician within the last 15 months in or outside Canada. The new medical certificate issued will be valid for 12 months.

Hi all,

So I just got off the phone with an immigration lawyer, and he suggested I speak with my local MP. So I have booked a meeting next week with his office. Has anyone gone through something similar? My finance applied as a Quebec skilled worker in 2009 and is still waiting for the federal portion to finish up. However, his CSQ will expire March 2013 and he's waiting 26 months for Damascus/Beirut.

I was also told by another lawyer that Canada has a quota of how many people they allow in per year per region :S.
