Hi all,

I'm currently preparing to sponsor my husband (who's from the US) to Canada with an inland application. We were planning to submit the application form in a few weeks but we just found out that his friend has a brain tumour and basically has a few months to live. He wants to go back to visit but we're a bit torn because the last few times he's entered Canada, immigration has already been giving him a lot of trouble. My questions are:

1. Should I hold off submitting the application so that he can go back to the US and visit his friend?
2. If we do submit the application, can he leave the country? And if he does, will he be able to come back to Canada?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Hi bunnyinjapan,

If you husband is residing in the U.S., you can opt for an application outside Canada. Because the process is much faster. And application will be only processed where he currently resides.

If you either opt for inland/outland application, after submission, your husband can go and come back to Canada. There is no restriction.

Hope this helps.

actually no, for inland appl he cannot leave Canada; if he does and he cannot enter back the file will b closed; i suggest either let him visit his friend and then apply OR take fadil advice and apply outland; with outland appl he can leave and come back in Ca as much as he wants
