Hi there

I need an advice on the following:

Myself, my spouse and my two kids landed in Toronto in July 2010. We left the country after three weeks. Now we have received a PR card for my son and three letters for rest of family members that we need to see Immi office and show them our passport and if we are not been able to attend the office in 180 days , additional 50 dollars would be required to be paid for PR cards.

Our intention is to move to Canada for good in July 2011. How can we enter canada without PR??? Is it normal or special case.

Hi , you will have to apply for TR (Travel document) from the CANADIAN EMBASSY of your resident country.
From below links, you will find more details:

Dear Assad:

I am on the same boat, I with my family landed July 14, 2010, and after getting a SIN Cards, Driving License and Bank Account, we move back. We have recieved the PR card of our youngest daughter rest we all three are waiting for the letter. When you have recieved the letter? I manage to check the status from here it says they will send the letters but till date it is not reached to my friend address that I gave for PR cards.

Our plan is to move back in Decmber 2011, but I am confuse so now we are planning once will get the letters will apply for the traveling documents. I will leave my family and come back. I have commitment till end december and not able to go before that. further cant take risk anymore.

Please confirm when you get the letters and when you are planning for TD and how is your expeience.

Thanks

Dear Yumar

Travel document is valid only for 30 days and in Abu Dhabi it takes 10-15 days to get it issued. My plan to move is in July 2011, that means I can not apply before June 2011. I m not sure what are the chances of getting that visa easily.

I have been into same situation in 2008. We left Canada and received PR for only one family member by mail. We applied for Travel document and it took 2 months in ISB embassy. We traveled and received PR. I would also suggest to get TD ASAP to collect your PR. Delays in such situations add complexities.

Dear Assad

I checked with my lawyer he has the same remarks for the TD, as per him it has no good impact on our immigration file. He suggested me to come through USA by road, since I have canadaian driving license I can enter with my landing papers on private car. But I do not want to take risk going to USA with all family memeber.

So we are planning to move as soon as we get the letter we will apply for the TD. We will not wait further our target is to go to Canada by April or May 2011. I will return back after settling my family.

SO I will recommend you the same before the expiry of 180 days you can submit your photographs. If you hav USA visa you can go through USA.

Dear Asif

How many days they took for sending the PR cards after re-submitting your photographs? Did they send on the address you have mentioned or you need to collect by yourself?

How was the procedure of TD? What documents they asked?

Regards

We landed in May/08 for the first time. Left CA in June/08. Received only one out of four PR in June end and letters for rest to re-take pictures at CIC within 180 days. We applied for TD in end Aug/08 and received back passports with TD stamped in Oct/08. It took approx. 60 days. We traveled back in Nov/08 and had re-taken pictures and signatures at CIC. We left CA again in Dec/08 and received remaining PR cards at mailing address in CA before Christmas/08. It took 5 or 6 weeks after pictures re-take.

For TD, I have written an application explaining that we have to leave CA due to an urgency, attached the letters we received, photocopy of PR(the only one we had at that time), photocopies of health cards and SIN, Passports, photograps, deposit slip for TD fee and proof of my Canadian bank account.

Hope it helps

Hello Asif,
My wife applied for TD and that was received by Islamabad embassy on May 5th, 211. We are still waiting to receive passport back. We faxed the letter to embassy, emailed them that it was a family urgency that she need to come to Pakistan with expired PR and if they can issue TD asap because she is pregnant and cannot travel after few days, but they don't reply.

I attached all supporting documents (home papers, bank/credit card statements, family doctor letter, my CAN passport copy, SIN/Health card, photographs, deposit slip and letter explaining the reason she has to leave to Canada due to family urgency).

How long exactly your case took? They say its 56 business days. Did you faxed/emailed to embassy after applying for TD?

Thank you.
