Good day good people,

I am a permanent resident of Canada. My PR card will expire in October 2016.
I have a daughter born outside Canada in 2014. Last summer 2015 I applied for TRV for my daughter in order to sponsor her from Canada. She was granted multiple TRV visa and my whole family came back to Canada October 2015.
In february 2016 I applied for my daughter TRV extension, wich was approved.
Last week due to family situation we had to leave Canada back to our native country. We had a flight to US and then direct flight from US to our country.
Now we are planning to come back to Canada in two months. As far as I know my daughter can only leave Canada when traveling to US with extended TRV. What do you think our chances are if we fly to US from our country and then cross the boarder with Canada by car?
In this case it could be up to the boarder officer to decide if our daughter can enter Canada or not, and in worst case scenario we can say that didn't know we can not leave US with extended TRV..
I hate to cheat but looks like this is the only way we can come back to Canada together as a family.

Thank you all.

It will be up to the CBSA officer if your daughter is allowed to re-enter Canada or not.

If she has a valid multiple entry TRV, then it shouldn't be an issue.

If she has a single entry TRV, the extension does you no good. She needs a new TRV to re-enter Canada.

Thank you for your reply.

My daughter has a multiple entry visa (wich expired on February, but has approved extension). So hopefully we should succeed, if everything goes right.

You cannot extend a TRV. You can extend visitor status, which is a completely different thing and has nothing to do with entering Canada.

If she doesn't have a valid TRV stamped in her passport, she will not be allowed to board the flight to Canada.

As I mentioned in my first response, her TRV needs to be valid. If it expired in Feb, it is no longer valid (the extension does not extend the validity of her visa). She needs to obtain a new TRV if you want to bring her back to Canada.

Hello,

Thank you all for your feedback.

What I found on CIC page:

Expired temporary resident visa

You can request to return to Canada on your original temporary resident visa, even if it is expired, if:
you will only visit the U.S. or St. Pierre and Miquelon; and
you will return to Canada before the end of your approved stay in Canada.

Please correct me if I am wrong:
I can try to enter Canada on the car from US with my daughter if she has a multiple TRV expired of Feb 2016, but having approved extended stay until September.
The only thing I can try to convince the officer is that I didn't know we can only stay in US, and let everyhing to the God's hands..

You already know this rule doesn't apply to you since you are leaving the US. Again, as we've told you repeatedly, you need a new TRV for your daughter. If you decide to gamble and try to convince the officer that you didn't know you could only stay in the US, expect your daughter to be refused entry and have a back up plan in place for what you will do when this happens.

As scylla said, this doesn't apply to you.

What are you going to tell the officer? That you somehow managed to read the second sentence about expired TRVs but not the first? The officer is not going to believe it, just like they didn't believe the many people who have tried that before or who tried to to lie about leaving the US.

You need to apply for a new TRV for your child.
