Leaving Canada with expired PR Card

I sent off my application for renewal in July and nothing still however, I want to travel to the US by car for a day and then come back. Am I able to do this with an expired PR card. I have a valid passport.

You should be able to do this with passport and other id's when crossing border in private car. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=064&top=10

You can use your COPR.
