Leaving Canada while awaiting sponsorship?

I heard they do not recommend leaving the country once my spouse has applied for inland sponsorship. Why is that? Does that apply only for the person being sponsored or for both my wife and I?

It is recommended that the applicant not leave because if the they are refused entry back into Canada, the inland application is cancelled.

Obviously, there is no such risk of the Canadian sponsor being refused re-entry but note that it is a requirement of the inland application that the sponsor and applicant be cohabiting IN Canada.

Don't go inland if being able to travel is important.

I just came back with my husband from austraia without any proof of a PR app, just the receipt as im still waiting for confirmation of receiving it.
They asked me no questions, just looked at my extended visitor permit and stamped me right back in.

My wife and I were just planning on going on Holidays for a week or so.
I don't see a reason why they would deny me entry but I don't want to risk it.

My husband has a valid work visa from before the PR application. We went away for 3 weeks and came back with no problem at border. Had no idea that it is not recommended to leave the country, we have a trip planned for Dec already, fingers crossed again.

If you're going away for a week that's fine.

However do note the risk of being turned away is still there even if it's small.

They could turn you away for example, because you travelled to Mexico and partied with a bunch of people, and you got a smudge of cocaine on your shirt, which ended up in your carry on. Or if they ask you questions about your stay and what you did, and you start to get all nervous and combative with the officer. Etc. You should note that even you have a visitor visa, that doesn't grant you the right to enter Canada. Only Canadian citizens and PRs have that right.
