Hi Gurus,

We just received the refusal letter for my mother's request for extension of stay. Is it okay if she leaves within 2-3 weeks after we receive the letter? Will this negatively affect her future visitor visa application? Thanks.

The gurus probably are sleeping at this time, their time being 3 hours ahead :). Anyway, yes your Mom can leave within 30 days after you got the refusal letter. As to future TRV apps, as long as she has a valid reason of coming to visit, and she can still show "ties" with her country of origin, then she should not have a problem. Actually, play it up in future applications, her having applied for extension and subsequent refusal, meaning she tried to work within the system but got a refusal so she went back home and is applying again.

Can any body please guide me under the following situation.?
My parents were allowed visitor visa for stay in Canada upto 6 months expiring on 15 July 2014 . I wanted them to extend stay as visitors up to 9 September and cancelled their return tickets and rebooked the tickets for 9 of September 2014. Subsequently applied to CIC in May for extension of visitor visa from 15 July to 09 September.

On 26 June CIC advised to take up Medical Examination from empaneled Doctor within 60 days. This means they can go for Medical Exam up to say 20 or 22 August. At that stage there will be only 15 days left before their scheduled departure date of 09 September.
It is expected that medical test reports would be sent by the doctor to CIC in 4-5 days and CIC's approval or rejection would be received by August end means about 10 days before the return ticket date of 09 September.

1. Even if their extension application is refused for Medical or other reasons say by August end , would they be allowed some 10 to 15 days upto the date of return tickets to leave Canada?
2. If they fail to undergo the Medical Examination within 60 days from 26 June as stipulated, their application would be treated as refused. Then in that case also will they get 10 days to leave Canada i.e. up to the return ticket date ?

3. Is it advisable to skip the Medical Test under the above circumstances to save unnecessary and heavy expenses just for a few days or would such skipping invite greater trouble?
4.Most importantly, how many days are allowed to leave Canada on refusal of application for extension of visitors visa?
