Hi All,

I am an Indian citizen and i am working in Toronto since March 2010. I am currently on work Permit and i am eligible for PR under CEC.

I am preparing to file PR under CEC. I have cleared IELTS with a score of 7 and have gathered required documentation like Work Experience, Police Clearance Certificate, Birth Certificate from Indian consulate here.

I got married few months back and my wife joined me here a month back. Currently she is on Dependent Visa.

Can i apply PR for both of us at the same time ? Or is there any duration limit (like staying for more than a year in Canada or so) which my wife needs to satify ?

In this case do i need to hire a lawyer ?

Could you please help me in this regards.

Thanks...

Hi, you r in same situation as was i . Yes u and your wife should apply together as u r married now, u just need marriage certificate as a proof of marriage. There is no need to hire a Lawyer as i did my application myself. U can post your questions here.

Thanks a lot Panna.

Do we need to have the marraige certificate attested or get it notarized ? And any other documents (like bachelor degree certificates of myself and my wife) should be notarized by Canadian authorities here ?

And when i have verified my job profile, i belong to class 217 in NOC. Does this satisfy the requirement to apply for PR as i have a score of 7 in IELTS ?

Your Marriage doesn't need to be notarized unless it is other than in English. YOur IELTS Score is good to proceed to apply under NOC 217X...

All the best!!
