It is ok. You held a full time job for 12 months. You will not have to work an extra 3 weeks because you took your allotted vacation time. After all it is paid vacation, that is a part of your job. The employer is required to give you a yearly vacation by law.

Schedule 8 for CEC only asks for your start date and end date and hrs. per week. If you had worked for 11 months and 1 week, even if you took no vacation, you would not be able to apply.

What do you mean by this ?
so you're saying its not okay ?
what does that line means ? :s
It means the extra 7.5 hours you worked every week can not compensate if you have worked less than 12 months. But in your case you're good anyway, because you said that your 3 weeks of vacation was PAID. As long as it's paid it counts towards the 12 months experience.

Yup. If you're salaried (for example) and you get three weeks' paid vacation per year, you don't have to subtract the three weeks.

Thanks guys for all the answers, it was a relief !
because I might use my vacation to get my criminal check from my home country.

Keep in mind that your PCC can not be older then 3 months when you apply.

the police record can not be older than 3 months? does that apply for every country? i've been in canada for a while now, it would actually make more sense to get a criminal check from here instead from back home. can somebody shed some light on this?

another question regarding the CEC: i know they care about 12 months of professional full-time work experience (which i have) but do they care about how much i was paid in that time or not?

No, what you did is correct and gives you implied status. What I mean is this - let's say your work permit application is rejected and date on the letter is Oct 4, 2013. You will no longer be on implied status and must stop working immediately. If you get a LMO in the next 90 days(from the same employer or a new employer), then you can apply for a new work permit($150) and restore your status to worker($200) at the same time. If the LMO is from the same employer, you send application to the "same employer" unit. If LMO is from a new employer, send application to "new employer" unit.

thanks for the recap!

can you elaborate on this? i applied for "A work permit with the same employer" BEFORE my old WP expired. i did not check the box that said "Restoration of temporary resident status as a worker" - was this incorrect?

CIC can get your criminal check from Canada but they also want it from other countries because they want to make sure you were not a criminal back home and yes, they can't be older than 3 months.

CIC may care how much you got paid because if you were paid much less than the average for your position, they will be suspicious that you were really not working that position but at a lower level.

I have not checked the CIC website, but if it's not on there yet, perhaps it's because they are "proposed changes" but not yet in effect. In anycase, here are the proposed changes:
