Hi - I thought I would share our experience too. I'm Canadian and my husband is Bolivian. We are applying through Lima because it is the embassy responsible for Bolivia.

We sent our application to Mississauga in May, got approval as a sponsor in June and the application was received in Lima on June 29, 2010. Since then, NOTHING from the embassy which is really frustrating. We are now in our 8th month of waiting.

I was living in Bolivia with my husband and just returned to Canada last week to being job searching, apartment searching, etc. We are hoping he gets approved in the next couple of months and can join me here once I'm all settled.

It's very frustrating to see how slow the Lima office is compared with other offices around the world - many people on this forum who applied the same month as us, May, are already living together in Canada and we continue to wait for any contact.

Oh well, there's nothing much we can do to speed up the process. "Ni modo" as they say....

Good luck to everyone!

Lima 80% of spousal applications processed in 12 months. Actually one of the faster offices in the Americas http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp#west

I don't want you to be alone in this thread, so I will post here as well :) I am sponsoring my husband through the Sao Paulo office. So far, everything has gone smoothly...they are very professional and courteous there. We are lucky so far! (But still waiting....)

I can relate..I haven't seen my husband since April. He was not able to get a visiting visa, and with all costs associated with immigration, we can't afford for me to go there either :(

I'm afraid my experience will hardly make you feel better...lol. My husband is in Brazil, and I am in Canada. He was not able to get a TRV and with all the immgration-related expenses, I have not been able to travel to him either. We have not seen each other since the beginning of April. :( The good news, though, is that even though we needed to supply missing documents and also have an interview, our file is complete and it has only been 7 months...Sao Paulo VO has been very good to us (so far...)

Lori

Cdagal.... I hope your case will complete soon :)
violka ... welcome to join us ...in the latin vo 's group !! lets go thru it together in this forum. Even though, i am not the same VO as you guys

They just ask for my husband's as well. Though they also asked for for additional information which seemed kind of weird but who knows.
Hope you have your visa soon:)

hey guys, when u guys get a passport request does the sponsor get a letter in the mail about it? or the applicant? or is it on e-cas? thanks!

Gary

My husband is being processed through the Canadian Embassy in Havana, Cuba. The website says that most applications are processed in 6 months. Our "do not disturb" date is March 15. Our application began processing 6 months and 18 days ago. Havana received our application 5 months and 7 days ago. In January we had a request for additional information - a new passport photocopy (his was about to expire in March but we got updated that back in October thankfully) and a date regarding his most recent job. It was requested via email on a Friday. Hubby was there on Monday. In addition to the requested info he also provided additional photos and phone records, and travel stuff. There are NO updates on the eCas.

He is discouraged. He says that they are rude at the embassy. I go to see him every month. YES! EVERY MONTH!
Like everyone else (I assume) we are losing our minds.... but we are hopeful. Good luck!

Yeah nothing in e-cas just checked, says application received and medicals received.

Thats it thats all, we got our AOR Dec 9th i think it was sent, but really they had it since Aug 30th according to our MP.

Was never expecting the passport request so soon, we are really lucky.

Strange checked again today, and the medical results received statement has now been removed and it just says the application receive date.

medical results keep on disappearing for everyone!

Almost 4 months since I received the sponsorship approval from Miss....we got her CSQ ready and sent to Bogota....no AOR in sight yet...will contact MP pretty soon if nothing happens.

You're supposed to send the CSQ to the VO? I thought that is sent to your spouse so he/she can use it when they land? I am pretty sure Quebec forwards the acceptance to VO too. Maybe I am missing something completely?

As for AOR, have you tried emailing the embassy? Lima is very good at responding. I sent an inquiry and then they emailed me back saying the had just sent a AOR at the end of the week prior (which is when I sent the email.. ha!). My husband got a AOR within 2 weeks or so.
