Hi,

Since I came to Canada in 2010 as a student then a worker, I did not file my taxes income.

Lately I became qualified to apply for citizenship, so, I filed all those years in 2019.

Do you think that will affect my application for citizenship?

I am worried because the question in the citizenship application say: tell us when you filed your income taxes in the last 5 years using the chart bellow
tax year required to file taxes filed
2018 yes no yes no
2017 yes no yes no
2016 yes no yes no
2015 yes no yes no
2014 yes no yes no

And my answer was (Yes) for all of those choices!

More importantly it can cause you huge issues. I am surprised they have not tracked you down and are not garnishing your wages. You should really be prioritizing your taxes vs citizenship.

Sorry misread thought you had still not filed.

No I do not think it will affect your application. My application is very similar. I filed 2018 on time, but filed all of the other years in 2017.

I have received AOR and have read on this forum that others have been granted citizenship and filed taxes late.

The requirement is to file, not to file ON TIME.

This link has information about IRCC's role with the CRA.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/canadian-citizenship/grant/residence/income-tax-filing.html

The tax requirements are:

For applications received on or after October 11, 2017
  • Three of the taxation years that fall fully or partially within the five years immediately before the date of application.

There is nothing stating that each year has to be filed on time.
