Hey

I am currently a student of Economics on my last year and my status in canada is student. So here comes my question. Is it smarter to go for a master's degree before you apply for PGWP and after that apply for it or a master's degree wouldn't help on my journey to PR as i expect it to? Wow, that is a huge sentence, Nevermind this. Also, does anyone know how hard it is to find a job with a degree of honors economics or is the market for it is depressed?(just like my life, Just kidding :p)

Thank you

Look at the CRS grid, and see how different options will affect your CRS: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Also consider how much points you can get with Canadian work experience.

EE is hard for international students, because of low score.
The government said they want to change it but nothing so far, check for expected EE changes.

There are other considerations
- Your need to make some money
- Your interest for the Master's, note usually is harder continuing studying while working.

If you can get a PGWP for 2-3 years and get a skill work for more than one year you can increase your EE chances, but if not getting enough score you should wait until government approve the above mentioned changes.

Important reminder: be sure to apply on time with proper documentation (stating degree end date) and fees ($155+$100) and have your passport valid for 3+ years.

Lots of students had problems getting the PGWP due to failures in these questions

Additionaly you can create a EE profile simulating your status at the end of your degree and see how much points you got.

Modify it adding the Master and see.

Modify it removing the Master and adding 1-2 years work experience.

After that remove your profile

This way you can see the real score.
Note that EE score changes are expected, crete your profile again after that.

You don't actually need to create an EE profile to see your score; the CRS tool is accurate if you enter your information correctly.

Or you can look at the points grid, and actually see how the points are awarded: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Thank you all for the fulfilling answers :). I had one last question. In the CRS there is way you can gain more points if you have two or more diplomas or certificate, etc...Is a bachelor degree and a post-bac diploma considered two degrees or is it still one Degree overall?

Much Appreciated,
H.T

That would be "Two or more..." as long as they are either Canadian (which yours would be), or they are assessed as two or more in your ECA.

If you decide to go with your Masters Degree or start working stay alert of incoming EE changes.

It could be possible you can apply for PR if Canada graduates score increases significantly.

Until that your best option is PNP or LMIA (harder)

Just take care with your PGWP, apply soon and properly after your final graduation (BS or MS)
