Language requirement - Can I submit just my diploma?

Hello everyone,

I am planning send my application sometime next week and had a question. I had graduated from post-secondary program in 2009 and post grad program in 2012. I dont have my transcript for the 2012 program but have the certificate which I received, could I submit just that or do I need to submit the transcript also.

Any help is appreciated.

I would submit the transcript over the diploma. The post-secondary alone is sufficient.

Always diploma over transcript...

My sister sent in their application last year... She sent in her daughter's transcript alone because the Diploma has not been issued yet.

The application was returned because they could not accept the transcript. They then sent in the application again with the diploma. The application was accepted the second time with the diploma. The call centre confirmed that they prefer diplomas over transcripts because they are so easily counterfeited...

This is very helpful DAN11. It says "send a copy of your diploma, certificate or transcript that shows you completed the program." so I will send a copy of the diploma.

also I had taken the IELTS for my PR back in 2012 and in the next step it says even if it has expired I can send it in.

Sorry one more questions.

I had graduated in 2012 and while I tried to get my transcript now I was told there is a hold for $700 and cannot release it (funny they didnt sent any thing asking me to pay and let me graduate) so I cannot afford to pay this and plus the citizenship cost.

In that case it would not hurt to submit the diploma - All that they will do is to thread it if they don't need it (since its just a photo copy). I know your trying to make sure you submit all the required documents for you application not be returned.

But you wont loose sending the diploma. Based on what you have you should be good. They will send it back within three weeks from the date they received it should there be any missing information. CIC has a team that opens all incoming applications to make sure all the requirement documents are submitted and application signed and dated in all the places that needs to. If not, CIC will return your application withing three weeks from the date they received it. So try and make sure you do the right thing. Returned applications will rejoin the line.

If it wasn't mentioned then there is no need to send it but in these times with CIC people have been sending every thing even if its not required let them thread what they don't want. YMCA can also better assist you as that's where I did mine and nothing was returned nether nothing was requested as these people (YMCA) has experience with these things and is apart of the Government.

Yes they arent.

I am still unclear if I can use the diploma as my education proof.

Any idea?

4. Education records

Provide photocopies of all your official education records if you attended an educational institution in the four (4) years immediately before the date of your application. Official education records are:

report cards; or
transcripts; or
attendance records
The education records must cover each calendar year, if applicable. It is sufficient to submit one official education document per calendar year of schooling during the relevant four (4) year period. Note: You are not required to submit proof of attendance at English/French as a second language training programs.

For your reference. I think you should acquire the transcripts.
